Gallon jug hand washing station

Items your going to need:

Empty gallon milk or juice jug
golf tee
nylon knee sock
Fishing line or even thin wire
Nylon cord
bar of soap
drill and bits (adults please help with this part)

A wooden golf tee.  This will expand a little once its had the chance to soak up some water.  That will make a tighter seal in the hole.

Your choice of soap.  This happens to be one we had for a quick example.

A nylon knee sock, of half of a nylon stocking leg.

A gallon jug.

Fishing line.  Doesn't really matter what strength or "test' it is, it's only going to make a leash for your golf tee.

Step 1: In the bottom front corner of the milk jug, (opposite of the handle) drill a small hole.  Make sure that the hole isn't any larger than the skinny section of the neck of the gold tee.

Step 2: With a smaller drill bit, drill a small hole through the wide portion of the neck of the golf tee.  After you drill the hole, tie one end of the fishing line or wire through this hole and around the tee.

Step 3: Tie the other end of the fishing line or wire around the handle of the milk jug.

Step 4: place the bar of soap in the nylon knee sock.  And then tie the other end of the stocking around the milk jug handle.

Step5: Your going to use the nylon line to secure the jug to a tree or other high point.  (Note: the jug only needs to be high enough to allow you to effectively wash your hands.)  For now, until your actually using your hand washing station, just tie the nylon rope around the handle for later use.

Step 6: Use the skinny end of the gold tee to plug the hole in the milk jug.

When your ready, fill the milk jug with water and tie to an elevated point, like a tree or you can even make a tripod out of branches to tie it.  Remember to keep it only as hi as you need it to wash your hands.  That is unless you like water dripping from your hands straight to your armpit.  Just a thought. :)
This is better than just soap on a rope.  This works as a whole cleaning station.  It holds 1 gallon of water and is easily re filled, carried, and hung.  It keeps the soap out of the dirt, and the drizzle effect allows slow usage of water.  Give it a try.  The kids will be excited to use it after they have spent their time to make it.  (Excellent for girls camp, and the finicky Scout)
